 Desde un ambiente inhóspito, el Grupo Nacional de Buzos Policiales realiza una labor hasta el momento desconocida, sin la cual la Operación Soberanía no estaría completa.

Y es que, además de todas las capacidades de respuesta policial con las que cuenta la Operación Soberanía en la Terminal de Contenedores de Moín, Limón, el Ministerio de Seguridad Pública cuenta con una fuerza policial especial, que se dedica a realizar inmersiones subacuáticas para la revisión de los buques que ingresan a esa terminal portuaria.

Este grupo está conformado por oficiales de los distintos cuerpos policiales de Seguridad Pública, como la Policía de Fronteras, Fuerza Pública, Policía de Control de Drogas, Policía de Fronteras y el Servicio Nacional de Guardacostas.

Desde su creación en el 2018, los oficiales que conforman este grupo se han capacitado gracias al apoyo de la Oficina Internacional de Asistencia Antinarcóticos y Cumplimiento de la Ley de la Embajada de Estados Unidos (INL, por nuestras siglas en inglés) y de la Agencia Borstars de CBP, para certificarse como buzos policiales profesionales y ejecutar esta peligrosa labor.
